Restoring Saltdean Lido for future generations
Saltdean Lido is one of the finest remaining examples of modernist lidos in the UK. It has been saved by local residents who have set up the CIC and successfully secured a 60-year lease from Brighton & Hove City Council (the freeholders) to operate the lido site.
With the pools re-opened in June 2017, phase 1 of our project is almost complete. We successfully welcomed over 40,000 visitors last year and picked up two Brighton & Hove Business Awards - Best New Kid on the Block & Best Hospitality Leisure & Tourism.
Phase 2 is the renovation of the building. We are working with the Heritage Lottery Fund (National Lottery) to secure £4.2 million whilst Brighton & Hove Council has pledged £700,000.
We have reached our crowd-funding target £100,000 so thank you everyone for your support. In June our HLF bid is assessed and hopefully we have demonstrated we have local and national support for the project and they will release the £4.19 million grant.
