The Saltdean Lido CIC has evolved from its beginnings as a highly successful campaigning group to ‘save the Lido’ from becoming a block of flats, to what is now a team overseeing the restored and operating pool with a £10 million+ restoration and construction project to produce a new vibrant centre for our community (plans on the site, if you would like to take a look!).

This is an exciting and high profile project made all the more interesting and challenging because of its listed Grade II* status and local heritage.

The team has evolved and changed over time and the current team of committed local volunteer CIC directors are:

Sally Horrox - (CIC Chair) - Director of Marketing and business development at

Derek Leaver – (CIC CEO) – Group Deputy Chairman at Saltdean Resident and Group Deputy Chairman of an international business, previously the CEO covering UK, USA, Middle East and Australia. Derek brings expertise in overall governance and commercial management to the CIC team, its volunteers, suppliers and contractors.

David Bailey - Partner and Head of Dispute Resolution & Professional Negligence at Resident and Solicitor (qualified 1991) with over 25 years’ experience and leading expert in professional negligence with executive and financial management experience as well as Risk Management and PI Claims handling experience.

Deryck Chester – Long term Saltdean resident and our Heritage expert
